Brindley Village - A Legacy of the Great War

Date: 18 August 2018 to 30 September 2018

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m.

Opened in 1916, the Brindley Heath Military Hospital became a feature of the Chase landscape for nearly 40yrs.  Immediately after the war it treated soldiers suffering from shell shock and gas poisoning. At the point when this was no longer necessary, it was purchased by the local colliery company, who converted the huts into bungalow type accommodation for its workforce. Brindley Village was born.

With this exhibition and a grant from The Heritage Lottery Fund, the Brindley Village Legacy Group hope to capture the essence and the spirit of the villagers, as they supported each other and developed a close-knit community in the aftermath of war.
